Dr. Sandro Gaycken is a technology researcher and a former hacktivist with a focus on cyberwarfare and cyberespionage. He is currently a senior researcher at the Institute of Computer Science, Freie Universität Berlin.
He has been the lead author of Germany’s foreign policy strategy on cyber security and Internet freedom, is an Associate Fellow of Oxford University's Martin School, a director in NATO's SPS program on national cyberdefense strategies, serves as expert witness in international court cases on military cyberespionage, as a regular strategic advisor to governments in Europe and the Middle East, multinational organizations as the EU, NATO and the UNO, and as a spin doctor for cyber business models of some of Germany’s DAX 10 companies. He doesn’t believe in conventional IT-security and is a strong advocate of disruptive innovation and disruptive regulation.
