Dr. Wolfgang Klapper is the former vice president of EWI's Regional Security program and the director of EWI’s Brussels Center.
Dr. Klapper came to the EastWest Institute from Algeria where he was Deputy Ambassador at the German Embassy in Algiers.
Born in Leverkusen, Dr. Klapper has been in the German foreign service for more than 25 years since his first assignment in Bonn, he has since served in numerous postings, including Ireland, Malawi, Australia and France. Dr. Klapper studied Law at the Universities of Freiburg, Munich and Bonn and obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Bonn in 1989.
