Nadiya Kostyuk
Position:
Fellow

A former program coordinator for the Worldwide Cybersecurity Initiative, Nadiya Kostyuk is now a fellow for the program. Her expertise is in transnational security and Russia and Eastern Europe.

Prior to joining the institute, Nadiya interned at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Coalition for the Responsibility to Protect (ICRtoP) and the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem. She spent the past two years conducting interviews with government officials, academics and journalists, researching policy gaps in the current European cybersecurity paradigm. In-country experience in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Ukraine, Russia, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland and the Czech Republic provided her with a better understanding of each country’s unique political climate. This summer, Nadiya participated in the NATO Summer School, where she joined in interactive workshops and simulations with international security experts, discussing best cybersecurity practices.

Nadiya has been awarded a Diplomacy and Diversity Fellowship for 2015 by Humanity in Action, which is "designed to develop leadership skills and knowledge among graduate students aspiring to careers in foreign policy."

Nadiya holds a master’s degree in Global Affairs, with a concentration in Transnational Security (Cybersecurity) from New York University. In addition to her native Ukrainian, Nadiya is fluent in Russian and proficient in German.
